Whether you’re a first-time cruiser or Platinum Disney Cruise Line member, we’re all looking for ways to bring a bit more magic onboard. One of the fun (and inexpensive) ways to get into the Disney spirit is to bring your own personalized magnets to decorate your door. To learn more about decorating your stateroom door, where to get personalized magnets, and best practices, keep reading.

18 years ago, my son and I went on our first Disney Cruise, and we fell in love! We quickly booked the next cruise and joined a web-based chat group to meet other cruisers. It was there we first learned more about decorating your Disney Cruise door.

So, you may be thinking, why should make door magnets for my cruise? Well…

  1. Creating your own customized door magnets can encourage your loved ones or littles to get excited about the upcoming cruise.

  2. A personalized door makes it easy to find your cabin.

  3. It’s a fun and inexpensive way to acknowledge a celebration, such as a birthday, graduation, or first cruise.

  4. They are inexpensive Disney souvenirs that you can decorate your refrigerator with when you get home. No need to spend all that money on Etsy cruise magnets.

  5. If you don’t make them date specific you can use them for a future cruise.

  6. These make great presents. You can surprise a loved one or friend with unexpected door decorations.

  7. You can create Magic for others with some unexpected “pixie dust” by making some extra magnets to give away to fellow cruisers.

  8. You can use the templates to create personalized magnets to participate in Disney cruise group magnet exchange.

Many generous people were creating personalized graphics for people for free. However, I noticed that over the years on the message boards and eventually Facebook groups that personalized requests became overwhelming for the artists.  So, I thought, “What if I create a page that offers free door magnet graphic but teaches people how to personalize them themselves?”.

Seven years and 30,000 members later, we are Disney Graphics you can Personalize! We are a Facebook page where artists provide free Disney graphics and you provide the personalization!  This allows you to create Disney Cruise door decorations for Halloween on the High Seas, Merrytime (Christmas), European, and all your Disney Cruises. Join us for free here.

OK I joined your page and downloaded some graphics so now what?

  1. You can use the tutorials on the Disney Graphics you can Personalize Facebook page to decide how to personalize them.

  2. The options for adding personalization to graphics just keeps growing. You can use word art in Microsoft Word, Power Point, an app called Photo Editor (that has the Walthograph font), Canva and many other apps or computer graphics programs.

  3. All our DCL magnets are printable. Some people prefer printing on card stock, laminating and adding magnets on the back while others prefer printing directly onto printable magnet paper. In my experience, laminating them makes them more resilient to travel and multi-cruise use.

  4. I highly recommend using Neodymium Magnets like these flat ones or these ones with hooks. As cruise ship doors get painted, other types of magnets lose their strength. Small but mighty, just one or two 10mm x2mm dots works! Neodymium magnets work on Concierge cabin doors too.

  5. Pro tip: Adhering your magnets to the graphics with clear packing tape is a great idea because it secures the magnet, but doesn’t impact the ability to stick to the door. It also makes the magnet reusable for future cruises. It’s important to note that magnets are the only approved way to adhere your graphics and magnets to the Disney cabin door. Tape, glue dots, gels or any other adhesives are prohibited.

The best part? The fun doesn’t have to end at magnets. You can use these graphics to create DCL family T-shirts, custom Disney luggage tags, charms, keychains, Disney scrapbook décor, and more. So many possibilities and all for free.

In order to join the page, click this link, answer the three required questions, read the rules which help maintain the purpose of the page and keep it spam-free, and begin enjoying!

With so many kind and generous members giving us these designs to use at no charge, please remember that these are for your and your party’s personal use (not for resale). We cannot wait to see which magnets you choose to personalize for your Disney Cruise door decorations.

Every day, I am grateful to be able to provide a little pixie dust to my fellow Disney Cruise lovers. I hope you enjoy making some magic too by joining the Disney Graphics You Can Personalize Page. Wishing you all smooth and happy sailing!

XOXO
